As the home of Motown and the Big 3 Automakers Detroit is making another imprint on a national scale in the world of fashion. With the advent of Detroit Fashion Week, Joe Faris of Project Runway fame 'Fashion in Detroit' annual fashion show, Styleline a Michigan based fashion magazine.
- (1888PressRelease) July 05, 2010 - Today, more and more Detroit native designs are landing on red carpets setting the stage for Detroit to garner more fashion spreads instead of the dubious headlines of the past. For many Detroit may seem like uncharted territory for a Fashion Flag, but according to CNN, "The city's industrial history gives it a unique design sensibility and its manufacturing capabilities play well to a growing demand for garments that are made in America". And while many may consider Detroit has a strictly urban market there are many consumers who have a more discerning palette seeking high fashion couture and one-of- a kind style. To satisfy this increasing demand many fashion couture designers and urban style clothiers are unity under one roof to bring Detroit's one of a kind signature style to the forefront of fashion. On Sunday, August 1, 2010 fashionistas and trendsetters will converge on Hotel St. Regis to view the unique offerings in fashion couture from local and national designers and clothiers.
"Our goal is to show attendees how to take this season's top trends and use them to design their own signature style"" says Event Coordinator Saran Palmer. "Hence the title of our event 'Identified' a Fashion Affair which will showcase styles for ALL sizes and ALL ages, from 8 to 80 we have you covered", says event founder and featured designer Gina Teamer. Like many designers Gina T. of Identity Studio discovered her love for fashion and design while cutting up and redesigning clothes in her closet. However unlike many designers her creativity did not stop there. As a model working locally and all over the world Gina T saw many models taken advantage of and limiting their dreams based on their looks. Therefore she decided to create ALL inclusive runway shows and teach models of ALL ages and sizes everything they needed to know not only to be a successful model, but also an entrepreneur. Today Gina T. is a model, designer, runway coach, photographer, videographer, graphic artist and mother. Thousands of models, designers, photographers and many more launched their career with Gina T. and have skyrocketed to success. Which is a testament to her ability to be a creator and business woman. This year Gina T. will showcase more custom couture selections to meet the demand for one-of-a kind fashion.
Another Detroit native whose designs have been featured in magazines, TV shows and runways around the world C.Grantson Bullard will be bringing his signature style to the 'Identified'runway in furs, coats, dresses and accessories. With nearly 30 yrs in the retail and design industry Mr. Bullard designs have been worn by mega producer Quincy Jones and America's Radio host Tom Joyner, in national print ad's and carried at fine retailers and furriers internationally and across the country from Beverly Hills to Manhattan. "We are honored to have two notable and accomplished fashion couture designers with decades of design experience featured on our runway", says Fashion Show Producer Bruce Love.
