Family Promise Celebrates Effort to Shelter Families

  • Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) February 25, 2016 - Family Promise recently released its 2015 Annual Summary, recognizing the nonprofit's 19 years of serving families experiencing homelessness.

    Last year, we provided emergency shelter and services to 73 families, including 238 individuals - a 15% increase over the previous year. More than 70 partner congregations facilitated each night of shelter as well as 26,985 meals for program guests, including breakfast, food for lunches, and home-cooked dinners.

    "It's exciting to see the community come together to help families in need," said Allie Card, executive director of Family Promise of Greater Denver. "We have more than 1,000 volunteers, and they are the reason we have been able to serve close to 1,200 families since 1997."

    Last year, 87% of families improved their financial condition while they were at Family Promise, 70% moved into more stable housing, and 84% of adults were employed or enrolled in a degree program.
