Faith Day on the Hill to Include Catholics, Sikhs, Scientologists, Muslims and More
Faith Day on the Hill in Tennessee is set for March 19 from 11am - 3pm, complete with panel discussions, topics of interest and solution-oriented talks.
- (1888PressRelease) March 05, 2013 - Each year Tennessee State Representative Brenda Gilmore holds a special event to bring people of faith to the capitol, known as Faith Day on the Hill.
This tradition began several years ago when Rep. Gilmore received two pastors who wanted to pray for her in her office. She was so moved by this that Faith Day has now become a full day of activities with people of many faith traditions coming together to learn and grow.
Faith Day on the Hill will be held on March 19th at the State Capitol in the House Chambers.
It will begin with presentations on state-level issues such as health care, education, jobs and economic development, the prison system and youth and gun violence and how faith communities can come together to resolve these issues.
The next portion of the event will focus on a panel discussion featuring faith leaders from Baptist, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, Muslim, Scientology and Sikh traditions. Each will have a chance to state their religious beliefs and answer questions.
To round off the day, there will be a dynamic discussion of solutions to help prepare the leaders of tomorrow and create a better world for our children, called "After the Benediction, What Then?" The discussion is scheduled to focus on education, specifically preparing our communities for education.
