Fairfield Harbour Hosts American Red Cross Blood Drive On Friday, June 14
Local Boating And Golf Community Partners With American Red Cross For Upcoming Donation Event.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) June 05, 2013 - Fairfield Harbour (http://www.fhpoa.com), a residential boating and golf community located 15 minutes from historic New Bern, has announced that it will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Friday, June 14 from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Community Center and Firehouse, located at 585 Broad Creek Road. All participating donors will receive a Chick-Fil-A coupon. The American Red Cross works with more than 50,000 blood drive sponsors each year to hold approximately 200,000 blood drives nationwide. Donations make it possible for the Red Cross to provide blood for patients in nearly 3,000 hospitals across the United States.
In the summertime, many regular blood and platelet donors do not devote the same amount of time to contribute, due to schools being closed and increased family travel and vacation plans. This shortfall often leaves the Red Cross with half of the readily available blood products on hand. This is why the Red Cross is calling on all of the community's eligible blood donors - more than ever - to donate as soon as possible in order to meet patient demand this summer. Prior to donation, all donors should drink plenty of water and eat plenty of iron-rich foods.
