Extreme Recycling Scrap Drive Benefits Habitat For Humanity
1-800-GOT-SCRAP & Crown ACE Hardware Partner for Costa Mesa Event.
- Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2012 - Looking for a way to dispose of that broken down refrigerator or unsightly rusted BBQ? On Saturday June 9, 1-800-GOT-SCRAP is partnering with Crown ACE Hardware for a one-day "extreme" scrap metal drive at the hardware store's Costa Mesa location (2666 Harbor Blvd). From 8 am - noon, the community is encouraged to drop off any large-scale metal items such as old dishwashers, washing machines or old water heaters that may be cluttering up their yard or garage. 1-800-GOT-SCRAP will ensure that all dropped-off items are recycled and repurposed. Instead of occupying our landfills, these massive items will be shredded, sorted into various pure metals (e.g., steel, aluminum, copper, iron) and shipped domestically or overseas to be re-purposed into new appliances and automobiles. Proceeds derived from the market value of the recycled scrap will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. For more information, call (714) 546-7080.
"We want to educate the public as to the importance of extreme recycling and emphasize that when scrap metal is recycled rather than thrown into landfills, it reduces pollution, lowers the demand for energy use and expensive fuels, and reduces our carbon footprint," said George Adams, president of 1-800-GOT-SCRAP, the new service that picks up unwanted metal items for a small fee throughout Southern California. "This scrap drive is a perfect way to recycle and raise money for a good cause."
