Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition's Chris Powell To Visit Kenneth Rozenberg's Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare
Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition's trainer Chris Powell is giving an inspirational speech at Kenneth Rozenberg's Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 13, 2011 - In an effort to raise awareness about weight loss, Centers for Specialty Care Group CEO Kenneth Rozenberg has invited Chris Powell of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition to come and speak at the Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare on August 12, 2011.
"Chris Powell's motto is, 'I believe that everyone has the right to live a happy and healthy life,' and that's why he's exactly the kind of role model our patients need. He's dedicated not just to helping people, not just to teaching them how to help themselves, but to making them want to help themselves - an absolutely invaluable lesson," Kenneth Rozenberg said.
Powell is best-known for his current stint as a trainer on Extreme Makeover, on which he moves into the participants' homes so he can more comprehensively guide them through the necessary steps of large-scale weight-loss. Before Extreme Makeover, he was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, 20/20, The View, and a TLC documentary, "The 650-pound Virgin," after he helped one of his clients drop over 400 pounds in roughly two years through just diet and exercise.
During his visit to the Dutchess Center, Powell will be giving a speech about his experiences with and insights on weight loss and fitness, followed by a Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to ask Powell to address more specific issues. Powell will also have one-on-one sessions with patients and Dutchess Center staff members, offering advice on how to approach exercise and nutrition.
The Dutchess Center, located at 9 Reservoir Road in Pawling, NY, approximately an hour and a half North of Manhattan, boasts 122 beds and first-class bariatric facilities, which allow its patients to recover in comfort from weight-loss surgery - a process that can take anywhere from several days to several weeks. At the Center they are encouraged to regain and improve their health, all the while learning about maintaining a proper, nutritious diet, meal preparation, and pain management.
"This could be exactly what some of our patients, current and prospective, need to decide what direction they want to take their lives in. We at the Dutchess Center know how serious the decision to lose weight, naturally or with surgery, is, and we're fully supportive of whatever route our patients decide to go," Rozenberg said.
