Extentia and WebSource Pacific Launch Trip in a Pocket, a Mobile Application for Travel Agents
Specially built SaaS itinerary management tool enables travel agents to put their client itineraries on mobile.
- (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2012 - Extentia Information technology along with partner WebSource Pacific/roomsXML have announced the launch of a new mobile application for travel agents. 'Trip in a Pocket' is a management tool that allows them to create and send travel itineraries on to their customers' (pax) mobile devices. It is available for their customers' use as a mobile application. Travelers can now check uploaded itineraries from any place and at any time on mobile.
At this time:
Travel agents create itineraries that are sent to customers, typically on email.
Travelers either have to carry printed itineraries or stay connected to view them.
With Trip in a Pocket:
The travel agent sends a reference number in an invitation mail to the customer after creating an itinerary
The traveler/customer enters the reference number to access the itinerary on an iPhone device
Trip in a Pocket is provided in the form of 'Software as a service' (SaaS), and the process is simple. All a travel agent needs to do is register with Trip in a Pocket, create an account, create pax, and upload PDF versions of the travel documents. They then invite their customer, the pax, to download the application from the Apple App Store, or Google Play for Android devices.
All invite emails come from the travel agent with their businesses branding prominently displayed. The downloaded application also carries the agent's logo. This means the travel agency's brand is visible to customers every time they check their itinerary, all through their travels.
With Trip in a Pocket, travelers can access their itineraries even in an offline mode. Once downloaded, the app can be used anywhere and at anytime.
'Trip in a Pocket represents the confluence of our expertise in technology for travel and mobile. It means innovation for travel agents, as they compete with larger travel companies without incurring major development costs,' said Umeed Kothavala, CEO, Extentia Information Technology. 'They're now able to provide added value to their customers by offering convenience on mobile'
'More and more travelers depend on their mobile devices, and travel agents effectively have zero presence in the mobile space. Trip in a Pocket is a major step towards catching up,' said Mark Luckey, MD of WebSource Pacific/roomsXML, and Extentia's travel business consultant. 'Also a key aspect of the design was that this app had to promote the travel agency. Every part of communication - the logo and branding - has to come from the travel agent, not us'
Key features of Trip in a Pocket are:
• Add flight details, accommodation vouchers, restaurant information, transfer details and more
• Unlimited number of invites to pax.
• Update an itinerary. Once updated it the agent's pax will be notified and receive an update
Availability
