  • (1888PressRelease) November 18, 2010 - IQPC are proud to present the Smart Cities Summit taking place 23-25 February 2011 in Rotterdam. The Summit brings together Heads of Urban Planning and Sustainable Development from across Europe's largest cities along with the most progressive utilities, builders and investors to discuss how cities can harness move from a sustainable city vision to implementation.

As part of the program IQPC has secured a site visit of the unique Rotterdam Stadshavens.

The City of Rotterdam Council and the Port of Rotterdam Authority are launching an ambitious programme to portray Stadshavens Rotterdam in a whole new light. This has two main goals: to give both city and port a stronger economic structure and provide more attractive, high-quality living and working environments.

Stadshavens is developing into a high quality location for living and working. It's attracting not only port and transport industries, but also innovative companies and knowledge institutes. What's more, Rotterdam profiles itself as a city with special expertise in everything related to water, as well as a leader in the area of sustainable energy and climate change. As a result, the city is gaining a highly educated workforce: pioneers who are keen to try out new trends. Stadshavens can provide them with the space and facilities they need for their enterprises, as well as exceptional residential locations both on and alongside the water, excellent cultural amenities and good educational opportunities. The bustling port also gives Rotterdam extra international appeal.

The site visit to Stadshavens Rotterdam will concentrate on the RDM Site and is facilitated by Bert Hooijer, Dean, Institute for Built Environment and Business Administration, Rotterdam University and Hans Scheepmaker, Area Development Manager, Stadshavens Rotterdam. Research, design and manufacturing are the key elements of this area. The Rotterdam university, Harbour authorities and the municipality of Rotterdam work together to transform the old docks.

As part of the launch of this event IQPC are offering the first ten conference registrants a free site visit, offering a saving of €899.
