European BEST Engineering Competition Final Istanbul 2011
EBEC project has two kinds of categories teams can participate in: Team Design and Case Study. Both of categories have something in common: they challenge the students to put in practice the academical knowledge gained during their studies, usually approaching multidisciplinary engineering fields.
- (1888PressRelease) September 07, 2011 - Between 1-11th August, the BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) has gathered 104 top European technical students to compete in EBEC (European BEST Engineering Competition) Final, held at the ITU (Istanbul Technical University).
The winners of EBEC announced 10th August during the Official Closing Day where participants and organizers meet together with the representatives of TUBITAK, ITU, and the top management of leading international and domestic companies cooperating with BEST. The ceremony include an overview discussions about modern industrial problems, prototypes gala, company presentations, international job fair, company presentations and announcement of overall winners and audience award.
Organization was dedicated to competitions in 2 categories. The Team Design, is a practical solution with a physical prototype. And the second category is Case Study which requires a presentation of hypothetical solutions for real-life problems.
For 52 participants of the Team Design category the most challenging (out of 3) task was the Rube Goldberg Machine. In the Case Study category the 2 most complicated tasks (out of 6) were new world wide web architecture design proposed by EBEC partners Kaspersky Lab and innovative online marketing from Detur.
The EBEC is supported by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), the Elginkan Foundation , SEFI (European Society for Engineering Education), UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and ITU.
