Europe looking to May 9 Meeting to See if Greece can Agree its Next Bailout - 6th May 2016

(1888PressRelease) May 06, 2016 - As the Greek government look to Mondays meeting of EU Finance Ministers to see whether the 3rd financial bailout will be released, there are concerns that any further austerity measures required by the EU or IMF may not be agreed.

With the IMF expressing concerns about the measures currently in place and German finance ministers arguing that the Athens government doesn't need further assistance, it's a tentative time in the Eurozone.

The next delivery of bailout funds is due in mid-July, EU ministers were hoping to come to an agreement before the UK referendum, allowing them to deal with Greece before any possible upsets from the UK. This however is not a concern for the Greeks who are adamant that they will not increase austerity any further.

If all the parties involved can come to an agreement on Monday, the EU and specifically the ECB will be in a far better position to react accordingly should the UK leave the
Eurozone in June.

European Markets remained cautious ahead of the weekend and should open slightly higher on Friday.
