- (1888PressRelease) May 20, 2022 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising manufacturers and suppliers of consumer products that the European Union (EU) has amended Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP Regulation).
Regulation (EU) 2022/692 was issued on May 3, 2022. It is the 18th adaptation to technical and scientific progress (ATP-18) to the CLP Regulation and contains changes to the list of chemicals falling under Annex VI – List of Harmonized Classification and Labeling of Hazardous Substances.
Included in the revision are important updates to Table 3 of Part 3 of the Annex:
• 39 new entries added – including two dibutyltin analogues, bisphenol S (BPS) as a reprotoxic category 1B substance, benzophenone as a carcinogenic category 1 B substance and melamine as a carcinogenic category 2 substance
• 17 entries replaced – including bisphenol A with additional classification and labeling information
• 1,5-naphthylene diisocyanate deleted
The provisions in ATP-18 will enter into force on May 23, 2022, and become effective on November 23, 2023. Stakeholders should be aware that after this date all substances and mixtures must be classified, labeled and packaged in accordance with the revision.
