Eton Institute launches 'Go Green, Travel Smart' campaign with the support of RTA to raise awareness about eco-friendly modes of transport. As part of the campaign, the Institute will be giving away 5 bicycles and 50 Public Transport Nol cards loaded with AED 50 credit each to its community of learners.
- (1888PressRelease) October 04, 2010 - In a bid to promote eco-friendly modes of transport, Eton Institute, Dubai's largest language training institute, announced a 'Go Green, Travel Smart' campaign in which it will be giving away 5 bicycles and 50 public transport Nol cards loaded with credit to its community of learners. This campaign, supported by RTA, will encourage learners to adopt sustainable means of transport such as cycling and using the metro to reach the Institute, located in close proximity to the DIC metro station. The Institute will also issue daily 'Eco Tips' on Facebook and Twitter throughout the campaign to encourage followers to move towards a greener lifestyle.
Dr. Eli Abi Rached, Director of Eton Institute, commented: "By launching this initiative, we would like to challenge the one-passenger per car culture, and to encourage students to switch to more environmentally friendly modes of transport such as metros, buses and cycles. The key lies in maintaining a balance and not using wasteful private means of transport when there are alternative options available. Plus, cycling to work, or walking from a nearby metro station is great exercise! This is not just a 'greener' but also a smarter and healthier way of travelling; a simple solution that can combat many problems, from rising fuel costs and traffic congestion to global warming and lack of fitness."
Eton Institute, an active member of the local community having initiated numerous non-profit Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects over the years, will kick off the month-long 'Go Green, Travel Smart' campaign on 22 September 2010. To raising awareness about responsible and sustainable ways of commuting, the Institute with the support of RTA will be giving away 5 funky new bicycles and 50 public transport Nol cards worth AED 50 each. These free prizes will be awarded to learners registering for a language, computer or teacher training course or workshop at the institute. Winners will be chosen through a lucky draw conducted on 01 November, RTA's 5th anniversary. Additionally, the Institute will also post 'Eco Tips', quick 'green' words of wisdom for followers every day through its Facebook and Twitter pages.
Dr. Eli added "We would like to thank RTA for its enthusiasm and support with the 'Go Green, Travel Smart' campaign. Together we hope to involve more and more people in the fight against global warming and climate change, a phenomenon that affects everyone and one for which we must all take responsibility. Every little change makes difference and if we can change the mind-set of even just one person, we will consider this initiative a success."
