- (1888PressRelease) December 27, 2010 - Eton Institute, the UAE's largest language institute, in support of the UN World Food Programme, will be encouraging residents this holiday season to join the fight against hunger while improving their language skills. As part of an active CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy of promoting social welfare, the institute has launched a dedicated group: 'Eton Institute Fights World Hunger' on the Free Rice website, where learners may donate rice for free while they play fun language building games.
Dr. Eli Abi Rached, Director of Eton Institute, commented: "Let's celebrate this festive season by lighting up someone's life and taking a stand against hunger. It's unacceptable that even in this age of development and progress; people are still dying of something as basic as hunger. Through this campaign we would like to take a passionate step towards the dream of a starvation free world."
"One of the easiest ways to feed a malnourished person" Dr. Eli added "is by playing the fun and addictive games on Free Rice, which donates grains of rice for free for every correct answer. What is more is that it's a great learning tool that builds and re-enforces language skills; an absolute must for all language learners!"
Headed by the UN World Food Programme, Free Rice is a non-profit website that hosts free online language games in popular languages including English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. Players are challenged with interesting language quizzes and 10 grains of rice are donated for free every time a question is answered correctly. This initiative is a novel way of improving language skills while helping the underprivileged, all for free.
Eton Institute, with a dedicated group on the Free Rice website, will be promoting this worthy cause through its social media forums and newsletters by encouraging followers to donate rice for free through learning. The institute, an active CSR advocate, has pioneered various non-profit initiatives over the years including English scholarship programmes for the underprivileged, free language courses, open community events and partnerships with established charitable organizations like Dubai Centre for Special Needs and Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
