Winners of Espire 2010 Announced.
- (1888PressRelease) November 26, 2010 - India - The 3rd edition of the Pan India Business Plan Competition "Espire 2010 - Passion to be an Entrepreneur" organized by Loyola Institute of Business Administration along with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Chennai, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Government of Tamil Nadu and National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) comes to a close. The winners of the competition were announced and awarded in a gala ceremony at the Chennai Trade Centre, presided by Mr. Ajith Balakrishnan, CEO, Rediff.com.
The winners were felicitated by Father P. Christie, Director, LIBA, Mr. Ramaraj, President, TiE, Chennai and Mr. Sudeep Jain, IAS, Special Officer, EDI, Govt of TN. The competition began course way back in September with the vision to search for the greatest talent in innovative business ideas. Over 475 applications from across the nation came in for evaluation. The competition encompassed a series of workshops to hone the prospective talents giving them the guidance to become successful business models.
The competition comprised three tracks: Students, General Public and Social Entrepreneurship and progressed in four stages of evaluation: Evaluation of the Executive Summary, Evaluation of Business Plan, Evaluation during the Mock Investment Round and a Final Presentation in front of a panel of eminent Jury. For each of the stages, the organizers provided specific inputs and interventions so that the participants were able to conceive and present a winning plan.
The jury for the final round comprises renowned Academicians, Entrepreneurs and Venture Capitalists.

1) General Winner

PROJECT CONCEPT: Cycle Chalao! aims to promote Cycling in India by Adding Bike Sharing Systems to Mainstream Public Transportation to Curb Increasing Levels of Air and Noise Pollution along with empowering the citizens to travel in economical and eco-friendly way''.

Speaking on the occasion Father P. Christie, Director, LIBA said, "The impetus gained in this program is quite commendable and we have noticed a great zeal and spirit in the young people who undertook this tedious competition. There are also some brilliant ideas that we came across from these budding entrepreneurs - unusual and extra ordinary! We hope that soon the nation will witness an age of radical metamorphosis through innovation and creativity."
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Ramaraj, President TiE, Chennai said, "I am happy with the great progress the Business Plan Competition has made in the last three years. Not only has the quality of the business plans - evident from the tremendous interest investors have expressed in these plans - but also the number of business plans have also gone up. This reflects a very important mindset change among students and general public towards taking entrepreneurship in a significant way. I am more than happy about the LIBA-TiE initiatives in enhancing the entrepreneurship ecosystem."
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sudeep Jain, IAS, Special Officer to the Entrepreneurship Development Institute said, "We innovated this year in the business plan competition several ways. We conducted several workshops and also included a Mock Investment Round. These steps have gone a long way in honing the generating interest in entrepreneurship and honing entrepreneurial skills. I am happy that so many young minds are ardently considering entrepreneurship as an alternative to employment and also happy that the competition is providing a tremendous platform for getting investment opportunities for their ideas."
