Escaped To Peru Benefits From Lonely Planet Trek Recommendation
Tour operator Escaped To Peru has achieved a new record for bookings on the Inca Trail thanks to the Lonely Planet article, "The 10 Best Treks In The World".
- (1888PressRelease) February 24, 2011 - Cusco-based tour operator Escaped To Peru has announced that it has surpassed its previous year's level of bookings for the Inca Trail.
The news was a source of great celebration for the tour operator, who normally experiences a later start to the booking season for the popular Peruvian trek. Early booking is essential in order to guarantee a place on the trek which has limited spaces each day and can sell out months in advance.
After conducting a survey with new customers, it was revealed that a big source of new referrals was the popular guidebook publisher, Lonely Planet.
"Lonely Planet lists Peru's Inca Trail in its Top 10 Of Best World Treks," explained Escaped To Peru's Managing Director Gary Sargent. "As it is only possible to book on to the Inca Trail with an agency or tour operator, people who would normally travel independently must look for a service provider to arrange their trek."
He continued, "Options exist for cheap tour operators, but the consumer is increasingly searching for a reliable and reputable provider. After searching around for various options for a tour operator motivated by the trek recommendation from Lonely Planet, our customers chose us."
"It's a very positive thing that out of all our competitors, some Lonely Planet readers have opted for us to help them with their vacation. We have worked hard to achieve a good reputation, and that work is now being repaid" Mr. Sargent added.
Lonely Planet's website describes the Inca Trail as a route with "views of white-tipped mountains and high cloud forest combine(d) with the magic of walking from one cliff-hugging ruin to the next...understandably making this South America's most famous trail."
Escaped To Peru designs and operates customized tours in Peru and Latin America, many of which include trips to Machu Picchu via the popular Inca Trail trek as recommended by Lonely Planet.
Lonely Planet was founded by Tony and Maureen Wheeler. The company is now majority owned by BBC Worldwide and has offices in Melbourne, London and Oakland, with over 500 staff members and 300 authors.
