Erwin van Laethem will succeed Peter Terium as CEO of Essent N.V.
Erwin van Laethem, currently Chief Commercial Officer of Essent N.V. based in Den Bosch, Nether-lands, has been appointed as CEO of the company by the Raad van Commissarissen of Essent N.V. (comparable with a Supervisory Board) with effect from 1 January 2012. The Group Works Council of Essent has endorsed the appointment.
- (1888PressRelease) December 17, 2011 - Van Laethem (47) will succeed Peter Terium, who has been a Member of the Executive Board of RWE AG and deputy Chairman of the RWE AG Executive Board since 1 September 2011 – in parallel with his position as CEO of Essent. Terium will take over from Dr. Jürgen Großmann as CEO of the Executive Board of RWE AG on 1 July 2012. Jürgen Großmann will then leave the Group.
Van Laethem has been a Member of the Executive Board of Essent N.V. as Chief Commercial Officer since October 2009. Previously he was CEO of Essent Belgium N.V. and Director “Service & Sales Essent Netherlands” in dual function since 2006. Erwin joined Essent after an international career at Shell, where he has held a number of operational and strategic management positions. He is Belgian and holds a university degree in Engineering and an MBA from the University of Brussels.
Rein Willems, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Essent N.V., declared: “Erwin is an outstanding manager who we have appointed following a very thorough selection process to find a successor for this position. He has known Essent for many years and most importantly brings all the market expertise and operational experience required for the position of the CEO.
