EON Systems, Inc. attends the Florida Chiropractic Association Winter Convention. Personal Injury Protection law is intensely discussed
Florida's new Personal Injury Protection Law is seriously analyzed at the Florida State Winter Convention in Naples, Florida. EON Systems, Inc. the developer of The Digital Office, is there.
- (1888PressRelease) December 14, 2012 - EON Systems, developer of the certified EHR software, The Digital Office, attended the annual winter convention of the FCA in Naples, Florida where the new Personal Injury Protection (PIP) law was under discussion. One Chiropractor attending the convention reported that it could possibly put 20% of chiropractors out of business.
The new PIP law goes into effect in Florida on the first of January, 2013. Florida House Bill 119 carries some major changes, including limitations that affect Chiropractic and other trusted therapies, and eliminate Acupuncture and Massage Therapy as treatment choices in this arena altogether, per Insurance Journal. These changes impose more limitations on an individual's choice of healing disciplines and tighten the time window to fourteen days after an accident, thus limiting the time one has to research and choose.
In 1972 when Florida first enacted a Personal Injury Protection Law the stated reason, according to The Florida Senate, was to make sure that individuals injured in automobile accidents could quickly have access to money for treatment and to make up for lost wages. Times have changed. Statistics show that Florida carriers pay out an average of twice as much money per claim when compared to all the other No-fault States. The original PIP Law was targeted as a major contributing cause of this.
This new law is aimed at getting insurance companies to lower their premiums by bringing payments to clients under control. Will this eliminate enough fraud to be worth the forfeited freedoms? "Because of this scrutiny and tightening up in insurance payouts, documentation is now more important that ever for Chiropractors to get paid what they are fully due," according to EON Systems founder and CEO, Derek Greenwood. For 24 years EON Systems has been providing the software that Chiropractors need in order to operate effectively within the insurance environment. "Documentor provides the ability to truly personalize SOAP notes so that each case is specifically documented. This is now more important than ever and will help meet the demands of what could become a very contentious environment." states Greenwood.
EON Systems' Digital Office software is a complete and integrated package consisting of three major components that can be purchased separately as an office or clinic grows. They are: The Practice Solution - billing scheduling, practice management and digital sign-in; Documentor - a fully customizable SOAP note, eval and narrative writer; and Document Solution - providing document storage and management along with document exchange.
