Eni MIT Concert: Boston 7 October 2013, La Scala Chamber Orchestra
La Scala Chamber Orchestra performs Verdi's Operas in concert at Boston MIT, presented by Eni.
- (1888PressRelease) October 05, 2013 - Boston - the concert at the Kresge Auditorium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) celebrates the renewal of the research partnership between Eni and MIT underlining their respective support for the arts. Eni is a supporter of the La Scala Chamber Orchestra's international tour, which has already included concerts in Moscow, Istanbul and Oxford.
Fantasies from Verdi's Operas is a musical miscellany from Verdi's operas composed by the composer's friends and colleagues that have lain forgotten in libraries across the world since the 19th Century.
The La Scala Chamber Orchestra discovered and transcribed these long lost "Fantasies" and is bringing them to the United States for the very first time. The concert at MIT is the first date of the Chamber Orchestra's U.S. tour, which will also include performances in Providence (Brown University),Washington (Library of Congress), New York (Carnegie Hall), and Miami.
This U.S. concert series is part of 2013 - Year of Italian Culture in the United States, an initiative held under the auspices of the President of the Italian Republic, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C., with the support of Eni, a Corporate Ambassador.
Earlier this year, Eni also provided supported for an exhibition of the late Hellenistic masterpiece the Boxer at Rest at the Metropolitan Museum in New York as part of this initiative. (eni.com)
The La Scala Chamber Orchestra (Cameristi della Scala) will perform at MIT Kresge Auditorium on Monday, October 7 at 7pm as the kick-off of their US tour in celebration of Verdi's 200th anniversary. This event is being sponsored by President Rafael Reif and eni in recognition of the close relationship between eni and MIT.

In the year of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi's birth, the Cameristi della Scala will offer an exclusive program featuring "Fantasie" from Verdi's operas. The tour will open on October 7th at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), a place not really known for classical music but known for its special relationship with an important Italian multinational oil and gas company: ENI ((National Hydrocarbons Authority).
President Barack Obama in a historic visit to the campus, October 23, 2009, went the Eni-MIT Solar Frontiers Research Center and left his signature for MIT students on a piece of equipment in the Organic and Nanostructured Electronics Laboratory.
