Empowering Small Town Indian Youth through Skill Development and Employment

A social empowerment story of how Udaipur based BPO Five Splash is empowering the youth of small towns in India by enhancing their skills and employing in the BPO industry. End Quote

(1888PressRelease) February 25, 2016 - India's Tier 2/3 cities are not dream destinations for Indian youth to make their career. In fact they don't have much career opportunities to speak of, resulting in skilled youth to migrate to bigger cities and metros in search of better paying jobs and a bright future. But working in metros has its own set of challenges and quite often these youngsters couldn't handle the competition and the fast paced life of Metros, resulting in their dreams being shattered.

A good solution to this problem is to provide good employment opportunities to these youngsters in their home town itself. This is precisely what Five Splash has been doing since 2009. Founded by Kapil Sharma, an electronics graduate from VTU, Five Splash is an IT and Business Process Services company based in Udaipur and having delivery centres in Ajmer, Jodhpur and Hyderabad.

"With Five Splash we are not actually trying to solve any problem," says Kapil. "We are just trying to unearth the hidden talent of the 60-65% of the Indian youth currently living in tier 2/3 cities and rural areas. While we can't operate from rural areas, for obvious infrastructure and scaling restrictions, we can and are operating from these tier2/3 cities which are a great bridge between metros and rural areas."

"We hire people mostly from rural background who are in need of financial support for their higher education or to support their family. We also give special focus to needy women - widows, single mothers and girls who are the only bread winners for their family."

One of the challenges of hiring such youngsters is the lack of skills for international standard service delivery. To overcome this Five Splash has set a minimum criteria for voice quality and computer literacy and candidates who clear this criteria are taken on board and then given extensive training to make them skilled professionals.

Recently Five Splash started a service delivery brand WeProcess4U for international clients. WeProcess4U will focus only on non voice business services like data entry services, OCR blended digitization, document management services, document scanning, data mining services, invoice processing services, claims and rebates processing services, back office support, email and chat support, etc

In the next 3-4 years Five Splash aims to expand to 15 cities and provide employment to 3000 families aided by positive policies and incentives from the current Indian government to promote ITES and BPO industry in India's hinterlands.
