Emily O'Brien is a recent transplant to Chicago from New York, where she worked for the King's County Administration for Children's Services in Brooklyn and for a law firm focused on foster care, custody and adoption issues. She and Mr. Leving will be discussing the differences in the way fathers' rights are treated in the court systems of both New York and Illinois.
About Emily O'Brien
Emily O'Brien has worked for over a decade exclusively in the field of family law. She has focused her practice on foster care litigation and child protection cases and has done special work with fathers who have criminal histories. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she studied political science and worked for a number of political think tanks in Washington, D.C., including the World Wildlife Fund.
Emily obtained her juris doctorate from Tulane Law School in New Orleans. While still a student, she had her first fathers' rights case, in which she worked to successfully appeal for the restoration of the parental rights of a father whose parenting privileges had been terminated without any legal authority.
