A Seminar on "Emerging Careers in the field of Energy IT" was organized by College of Energy, Environment and Sustainability (CEES) to discuss the career prospects and IT developments in the field of Energy in near future.

As per a study conducted by United Nations, there is a huge gap between skills required for green, energy efficient, sustainable economies and the available resources. Energy Sector is the next big wave of future growth for the world. It is likely to create millions of new, highly rewarding career opportunities, as countries across the globe engage actively in building sustainable energy plans.
To discuss this growth and career opportunities as a result of the growth in the energy sector, CEES organized this seminar, on 22nd Nov. 2011. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy a pioneer and renowned professional from US. He discussed future of the energy industry, its technological needs, career options and how IT professionals can interface their skills to suit the developments. This seminar was attended by IT professionals, Energy sector professionals, energy consultants and students. This seminar was also covered as a webinar for the benefit of the interested professionals and students who could not stay present for the seminar in person.
The seminar talk was followed by a question and answer session where the attendees tried to understand the energy related policies, changes expected in the Indian energy sector, energy theft, investment in the energy sector/ smart grids etc.
