  • (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2010 - The upcoming "2011" release will be named RAD Studio XE and will include Delphi® XE, C++Builder® XE, Delphi Prism™ XE and RadPHP™ XE.

This final sneak preview introduces new RAD Studio XE capabilities for interacting with cloud computing environments, an expanded multi-tier framework, and new options for Web application development. Developers will be able to ensure application scalability by quickly building cloud application servers with native performance, and they will have the latest technologies to deploy server applications to the cloud that can be accessed from many types of thin-client applications.

New RAD Studio XE tools revealed in this third preview include:
    • Cloud computing access to Windows Azure services
    • Quick deployment to Amazon EC2 cloud servers
    • Extended multi-tier development with new wizards, new protocol support, encryption and compression, cloud servers, and PHP/JavaScript clients
    • The inclusion of RadPHP XE, IP*Works and IntraWeb, which provide new choices for Web app development

"RAD Studio XE's support for EC2 deployment and Windows Azure services will allow our developers to fully exploit the extreme scalability and storage capacity of cloud servers," said Michael Swindell, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Embarcadero Technologies. "This reinforces our goal to give developers the most options possible for their application delivery, whether they prefer on site or in the cloud."

The RAD Studio XE release also marks the extension of the new XE brand and capability set to Embarcadero's application development line, including RAD Studio and each standalone tool in the suite. XE products are distinguished by three key components: support for multiple database types and deployment environments; Embarcadero® ToolCloud technology for centralized license management and on-demand tool access; and an easy upgrade path to Embarcadero® All-Access™ XE.

As with all Embarcadero tools, the RAD Studio XE suite of products will also be available via the Embarcadero All-Access toolbox.
