What started off as Electrosteel Castings, a Steel Castings and Cast Iron Spun Pipe manufacturing company, it evolved in time into a pioneer in manufacturing Ductile Iron Pipes and Fittings. It has 3 plants in West Bengal and 1 in Elavur (Tamil Nadu). It has established itself in the global arena as a Water Infrastructure Company providing techno-economic solutions for water supply and sewerage systems. Presently, over 50%of its products are exported around the world and Electrosteel has its subsidiaries in 11 countries.

CI spun pipes are now manufactured at the Company facility in Elavur (Tamil Nadu) while the Bansberia Works is the unit ultra - modern DI Pipes coating and finishing unit. The Haldia plant produces DI Fittings and accessories and also has a Coke Oven Plant, a Sponge Iron unit, a Ferro-Alloy unit, as well as Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant. All these plants effectively maintain the Environmental Management System Standard ISO: 14001 since 2004.
To meet the ever growing demand of its quality products ,Electrosteel acquired a 46% stake in Lanco Industries Limitedin March 2002, which is involved in manufacturing of DI Pipes, Pig Iron, Cement and low ash metallurgical coke.Lanco was renamed as Srikalahasthi Pipes Limited.
Currently, the Electrosteel Group holds a market share of 25% in Ductile Iron Pipe manufacturingin the country and is the largest in this segment.
