ElectriCities Selects Nexgrid As Preferred Vendor For Smart Grid Modernization Project
Nexgrid, a leader in high-speed standards-based smart grid solutions announced that ElectriCities of North Carolina selected Nexgrid as the preferred vendor to provide smart grid modernization solutions for ElectriCities' members.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) November 18, 2014 - ElectriCities released an RFP on behalf of its members consisting of municipal utilities across the state of NC seeking advanced metering of electric, water and natural gas; load management and demand response; outage management; streetlight control and smart home applications for ElectriCities' members and their customers.
After an extensive review of multiple smart grid vendors, ElectriCities selected Nexgrid on the basis of the robustness of the solution; the flexibility to support various applications across electric, water, natural gas and load control on a single platform; and the cost effectiveness and ease of implementation.
"Nexgrid was a clear choice for our requirements, as the technology provides a superior foundation for the smart grid system, while also offering our members with a range of options for future smart grid applications," said Roy Jones, Chief Operating Officer at ElectriCities. "We believe that Nexgrid's multi-mesh technology and integrated turn-key solution delivers a significant advantage over other products available in the market today."
Nexgrid has begun deployment at several ElectriCities members and expects to increase the number of deployments throughout the coming quarters. Nexgrid will also be partnering with ElectriCities to offer a bundled hosting and billing solution to members that leverages the robust capabilities of ElectriCities.
"Given the strength of the competitors involved, we are honored to have been selected by ElectriCities as their preferred vendor," said Costa Apostolakis, Chief Executive Officer at Nexgrid. "The leadership team at ElectriCities recognizes the benefits of our standards-based, real-time smart grid system that is flexible as the needs of the smart grid grow over time. We look forward to broadening our partnership and helping ElectriCities' members with their smart grid deployments now and in the future."
