ELA Adds Members in Chile and Venezuela
The Employment Law Alliance (ELA) has added Carey as its Chilean member firm and Hoet Pelaez Castillo & Duque as its Venezuelan member firm.
- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2015 - The Employment Law Alliance (ELA) is the world's largest network of labor, employment and immigration lawyers.
"Chile and Venezuela are key jurisdictions for employers, and these firms help to maintain our full South American coverage," said ELA Founder and CEO Stephen J. Hirschfeld. "Each firm and its attorneys come highly recommended and were extensively vetted to ensure they were the right fit for the organization. With diverse economies and industries - such as energy, agriculture and wine - we are excited to deepen the ELA's global reach."
Carey is the largest firm in Chile and home to more than 200 legal professionals. Founded over 100 years ago, Carey is committed to a "one-firm" approach - an organization-wide commitment across its 29 practice areas to helping clients achieve their goals by providing focused, highest-quality counsel that exceeds expectations. The firm has been honored with numerous industry awards, including the 2015 "Client Service Award for Chile" from Chambers and Partners and 2015 "Law Firm of the Year" from the International Financial Law Review (IFLR).
"As the world grows ever more interconnected, providing clients access to global resources is paramount," said Carey Partner and ELA member representative Oscar Aitken. "We are simultaneously honored to be selected for ELA membership and excited to include access to this high-caliber law firm network in our client offerings. Further, it was ideal to be able to connect directly with so many of the ELA members at the Annual Meeting in Buenos Aires in early October."
Hoet Pelaez Castillo & Duque, with roots going back to 1942, is one of the most prominent full-service law firms in Venezuela and today represents many of the country's largest private companies and public corporations along with numerous foreign companies and financial institutions doing business in Venezuela. The Caracas-based firm numbers 60 attorneys and offers client services across 14 practice areas, including Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits. Respected in the legal community, the firm is listed in Chambers and Partners' "Latin America" and "Global" guides, as well as in Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250 and Best Lawyers.
"With a long and storied history, we cherish our independence as a firm. Membership in the ELA plants the Hoet Pelaez Castillo & Duque flag in capitals across the globe, overnight and without sacrificing autonomy. And, it also opens the door to Venezuela for our fellow ELA members," said Hoet Pelaez Castillo & Duque attorney and ELA member representative John D. Tucker.
