El Hassan Business Park announces Clean Tech Open winners
Hosted by the Kingdom for the first time in accordance with 30 other major cities globally, El Hassan Business Park announced the names of the winners of the CleanTech Open 2011.
- (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2011 - Amman - The announcement came during the closing ceremony, organized by El Hassan Business Park and supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Husain Ketab came first for his project Nitrate Production Systems, which aims at producing clean agricultural fertilizers. Anwar Mjarkesh and Foad Ziadin shared the second place for their projects Movement Charger and A Self -Calibrating Solar Collector Shielding System respectively; leaving the third place for Raouf Tailoni for the Wireless Mouse project and Mahmoud Shatal for Taqitna project.
It is worth mentioning that Husein Kattab will represent Jordan in the "Global Ideas Competition" during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2011 in San Francisco the coming November, competing other winners from the rest of the world on a USD 100,000 prize.
In his comment, Eng. Omar Hamarneh CEO of El Hassan Business Park said, "We value the exceptional efforts and entrepreneurial thoughts of the winners, which have exceeded our expectations. We congratulate them, and ourselves, for these capabilities. They are really a wealth of ideas that can ensure the prosperity of our country. We also wish Mr. Husein all the best during the international competition, and to reflect the real potential of the Jordanian youth's capabilities unto the world."
The CleanTech Open competition aims at stimulating creative talents and entrepreneurs to develop clean, alternative technologies.
Sponsored by the USAID, the competition targets various environmental issues such as air and water waste, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building, smart power, green grid, energy storage and clean transportation.
For his part, Mr Laith Al Qasem, Chief of Party, Economic Development Program, funded by USAUD Jordan said, "The competition succeeded in carrying innovators and talents to employ their capabilities in the service of the industrial sectors that need new technologies to cut down on the environmentally hazardous practices."
It is worth mentioning that governmental organizations, academic establishments, and non-profit organizations participate in the GEW to engage students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and others to assist them in adopting a culture of entrepreneurship and employ it to serve society. GEW is a global event organized in more than 100 countries around the world in the same week in November.
