Education Specialist, Adam Caller, Will Look at Parental Attitude in the Development of a Young Sportsperson's Education in April's Polo Times
Insufficient structure, unclear boundaries and inconsistent rewards can cause children to lose interest in school or sport, says leading private tuition specialist, Adam Caller.
- (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2012 - In the April edition of Polo Times, regular columnist Adam Caller, an education specialist and Director of the Oxford-based private tutoring organisation Tutors International, will be looking at the effect of parental attitude on young sportspeople.
In his next column, Caller looks at how accomplished polo players can benefit from reasonable boundaries enforced by parents with loving attention, firm but fair discipline, and a safe home life where they understand how to earn praise and respect from their parents.
"Parents often come to me when something has gone wrong," comments Caller. "Providing just the right nurturing environment for a child can be difficult, and when a child loses motivation at school or for a sport they've shown a great talent for, or becomes involved with unsuitable friends, it can leave parents worried and confused about the best direction to take for the good of their children's future."
"In my experience in both traditional school and home education, I've found that when a family sets reasonable targets, and recognises achievement before setting harder goals, students often continue to feel motivated to develop themselves. They do not feel that they'll never live up to expectations, or that the goals they're set are unattainable, and this fosters much better communication between parent and child."
Caller taught in schools before becoming an education consultant and founding private tuition placement service, Tutors International (http://www.tutors-international.com) in 1999. He was invited by Polo Times to contribute a regular column about education and private tuition to provide advice to parents of rising polo stars on finding the best solution for balancing polo training with education.
