Education Positions Doing Surprisingly Well Despite Lackluster Projections

While education has traditionally been an area that is hard hit by dips in the economy; the recent jobs data report shows this sector to be performing fairly well.
The job trends point to 86,780 open positions in August of this year and 90,864 job postings in September. This increase shows a definite rise in the need for those in the education industry. This seems to directly contradict layoffs reported at many schools around the country.

The jobs data from EducationCrossing.com are in sharp contrast to the most recent employment projections released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The projections for the education sector show the need for high school teachers only going up by 1-percent between 2010 and 2020. It does make sense why there would be such a disparity, however.
EducationCrossing.com is as current as can be while the BLS compiles its data from surveys over months. "There's bound to be a margin of error," notes Barnes, adding, "We use a computer algorithm to pull every employment opportunity available for the education sector onto the site."
