EC-Council Sponsors e-Iraq and Cybersecurity Event
On 5th March 2019, EC-Council, world’s leading cybersecurity credentialing body, sponsors conference “E-Iraq and Cyber Security” in Baghdad That Organized by RMD company. The conference aimed at upgrading and innovating strategic and tactical cybersecurity operations of the Iraq government. The annual seminar, this year focused on eGov, cyber threats, and its defense.
- Albuquerque, NM (1888PressRelease) April 04, 2019 - The EC-Council at the E-Iraq and Cyber Security conference, held in Baghdad on 5th March 2019 at the Babylon Hotel, witnessed active participation from proficient state actors from the field of information and communications. This year’s conference focused on the Iraq National Electronic Identity program, cybercrime prevention awareness, protection of data, and much more, in line with the new Federal Government of Iraq’s plans to invest in an e-government.
EC-Council had an active participation as the official sponsor of the conference and was represented by Ali Sami, CEO of SatGate – Iraq, in his speech where he discussed the role of data security and governance in e-government and current trends of intelligent cyber threat management and referred to the importance of workforce development in the cybersecurity community in accordance with international standards. Ali Sami also spoke about EC-Council strategic building of a cybersecurity workforce, specifically through the Certified Chief Information Security Officer, Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Security Analyst, Licensed Penetration Tester, and Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst programs.
The conference covered the overview of Iraq national electronic identity, electronic investigation, cybercrime prevention awareness in Iraq, big data and disaster recovery, IT governance in organizations, enterprise cyber defense, incident handling and response for cyber incidents, and EC-Council's vision and mission. The discussion wrapped up with important recommendations to build a real-time cybersecurity workforce.
The day was honored by the presence of the influential representatives from the US embassy, British embassy, Serbian embassy, representative of regional International Telecom Unit “ITU”, Ministry of Communications (Iraq), Ministry of Interior (Iraq), Ministry of Defense (Iraq), Ministry of High Education and my presences from deferent Universities, Ministry of Sciences and Technology, Director of Crime Evidence Cyber Crime Department, Iraq Intelligence Dept., Iraq Cyber Event Response Team “CERT”, EarthLink the Largest Internet Gateway in Iraq.
