Eagle Technology Gains COBie Challenge Recognition for Facilities Management
Latest COBie Challenge a success for Eagle Technology.
- (1888PressRelease) April 12, 2012 - MILWAUKEE - Eagle Technology, Inc., a developer of Facility Asset Management Software, was recognized by the buildingSMART alliance™ for Eagle's Proteus MMX software being compliant with Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie) data based on the most recent COBie public challenge parameters.
The "COBie Challenge" was held on March 13, 2012 in Baltimore, MD during the National Facility Management & Technology (NFMT) Conference. The objective of the Challenge is to certify vendors to demonstrate that they meet the standards to produce and/or consume COBie data for facility/asset management and maintenance.
"Having the ability to import COBie data, including assets and maintenance schedules, directly using the COBie model into our Proteus solution saves the building owner, the commissioning agent and the facility manager time and money." says Harry Kohal, VP of Business Development, Eagle Technology, Inc.
Participants were supplied with a model of an actual facility in the COBie format. A series of quality assurance meetings were held with the COBie standards committee to evaluate Eagle's use of COBie data for completeness and accuracy. The results of the challenge were publically presented at NFMT.
"As one of the four companies at the Challenge, we are proud to have earned this recognition of compliance." states Harshad Shah, President, Eagle Technology, Inc.
COBie is among the growing list of standards being promoted by the federal government for greater cost-efficiency in the construction, management, and maintenance of its buildings. Because of this, COBie compliance is increasingly important to architectural, construction, and facility management project teams.
