  • (1888PressRelease) October 19, 2012 - This year, the E-Commerce Awards highlighted eight innovative companies and future stars of the market. GAMNED, a recently founded company, won the Gold E-Commerce Award 2012; it was awarded by a jury chaired by Gauthier Picquart, Co-Founder of Rueducommerce.com.

For the first time, a special conference session on China was held at E-Commerce Paris. With 140 million online buyers and 520 million expected by 2015 (Source: iResearch), China is the priority target for European e-commerce experts. The trade-show organisers announced the launch of E-Commerce Asia, a new trade fair which will be held in Hong-Kong from 27 to 28 March 2013. It will take place at the same time as Cartes Asia 2013, with 3,000 visitors expected.

The ninth E-Commerce Paris, which took place in Paris (France) from 18 to 20 September of this year, focused on changes in market conditions and sector innovations. With 30,000 visitors coming to discover products and services from 500 exhibitors, the trade show further strengthened its position as an essential event in the industry.

Annabelle Bozec, Senior Communication Manager for DHL Global Mail France, comments, "We found the 2012 trade show especially dynamic."

"The E-Commerce Paris trade show is an important event, as it is a place where we can find the whole digital ecosystem, and it is the ideal opportunity to find new partners," says Gregory Gazagne, Managing Director for France, Southern Europe and Latin America at Criteo.

Catherine Beaugé de la Roque, Marketing Manager at Experian Marketing Services, explains, "E-Commerce Paris is the only trade show that brings together not only marketers but, also, e-commerce merchants and service providers, who are becoming more and more specialised."

Julien Mosse, Managing Director for Southern Europe at Ligatus, says, "For us, E-Commerce Paris is an opportunity to present our latest innovations to the largest audience, and is also a place to welcome our customers, who all visit this essential event. Furthermore, we get a real return on investment."

Delphine Rieutord, Sales Communications Manager at eBay, is equally positive about the trade fair, "E-Commerce Paris 2012 was an opportunity for us to present, on a unique stand, the strengths of our four main eBay Group entities to our potential customers. Also, because this trade show brings together a great number of e-commerce operators, it is the right place to network, which benefits our development."

Over 20,000 of the trade fair's visitors attended 350 conferences where 410 speakers covered the entire range of e-commerce challenges, including social commerce; digital marketing, such as listing, retargeting, real-time bidding (RTB) and affiliation; m-commerce; customer relations; e-commerce technologies, such as open-source platforms and delegation; and, finally, services, such as online payment and legal services.

E-Commerce Paris 2012 also highlighted the topic of omni-commerce, which proved to be the most successful subject among the conferences: the opening plenary session on this topic attracted an audience of 2,000 people.

Today, the world of e-commerce and physical distribution is at a crossroads. The market is presently growing stronger and sector players have shifted their focus from a traditional price-war approach to concentrating on the user experience. The latter now involves buying anywhere and at any time, at the best price and with the same level of service, regardless of the distribution channel (whether in store or via a mobile phone, for example). Industry watchers point out that consumers want to take control of their consumption and enjoy the purchasing experience: they no longer want, simply, to consume.

At E-Commerce Paris 2012, Auchan, Facebook, Ikea and Renault, among others, provided particular insights into the debate surrounding cross-channel sales and how to integrate distribution channels, as well as on social shopping, local shopping and m-shopping.

Jérôme Letu Montois, Director of Operations for E-Commerce Paris, comments, "E-Commerce Paris 2012 has been a great success, with the unveiling of a number of innovations, the high quality of the conference speakers, and the presence of international business leaders among the exhibitors."

"In 2013, E-Commerce Paris will celebrate its 10th anniversary: on that occasion, we plan on developing the event, making it more dynamic and effective. As the leading show of the sector, E-Commerce Paris must be innovative in its ideas and activities," adds Jérôme Letu Montois.
