"Arts education has been integral to DIAC and we are proud to showcase works of our highly talented students. The response to such programmes in the past has been extremely encouraging and we hope the forthcoming event will be equally successful. Every semester, our dynamic faculty serves different age groups through unique courses helping students to learn new skills while improving existing ones".
The participants this year are prize winners from the last students' exhibition and include Alexandra Williams, Rawya Al Malik, Richa Singh, Lieve Hommelen, Tracy Turner and Marie Noujaim. Ayesha said: "All our courses are researched, structured and focused on developing one or more aspects of a student's skills. We are well aware that each student has different capabilities, needs and expectations and hence blend the fun of imagination with the learning required for advancement. Our centre's skilled staff combines widespread experience and expertise to groom extraordinary talents.
Right from its inception, the DIAC has been one of the emirate's most respected institutions, having served the arts community in Dubai since 1976, providing space to learn, practise and display a wide repertoire of art activity.

Alexandra Williams

Rawya Al Malik
Rawya Al Malik of Dubai studied Art Education at the UAE University. She worked as an illustrator and graphic designer/art director for nine years in the Ministry of Education. Rawya switched to freelancing in March 2010 so as to get more time for painting. She specialises in painting florals, still life, landscapes, and seascapes mostly using oil and pastel mediums. Rawya has also taken part in many group exhibitions since 2006. Her first solo exhibition was held in April 2011 under the title "Portraits of Roses" in Dubai Ladies Club. She won Al Owais Award for Scientific Invention for best artwork, a 1st & 2nd prize in 2008 & 2012.
Lieve Hommelen
Lieve Hommelen, who was born in Belgium and has lived in Dubai for two years now, has a very broad interest in art and likes to create. Back in Belgium, Lieve did some acrylic painting, but the favorite medium is clay sculpture. It was in the DIAC that Lieve had her first encounter with clay sculpture, under the professional guidance of Katerina Smoldyreva. Lieve finds it great to see a lump of clay transforming into a nice sculpture, by simply using her own two hands and imagination.
Richa Singh
Richa works with the finance industry and Dubai has been her home for the past five years. Painting started as a hobby for her almost seven years ago and has grown into a more serious pursuit of self-expression in oil
paint and mixed media. Richa derives inspiration from her travels and life impressions. She loves the warmth and energy of vibrant hues and usethem often in her works. Richa is also a part of a group of painters called ArtIIgether and had exhibited her works at Gallery 76, Dubai Heritage Village, Crown Plaza, Spinney's cup and Dubai Ladies Club.
Tracy Turner
Tracy came to Dubai in the 70's with her parents and has lived here for over 30 years. She and her hubby like to spend as much time outdoors, walking on the beach or cycling around the quiet streets of Jumeirah. Tracy enjoys embroidery from a young age and more recently photography. She had not been aware of the sculpture class at DIAC, but since joining last year, it has become a big part of her life which she enjoys enormously. Her favourite subject is the human and animal form. Tracy is also keen to explore different forms of ceramic sculpture.
Marie Noujaim
Marie was born in Lebanon and has British nationality. She is the ultimate art enthusiast who encourages everyone to immerse themselves in art. With a Fine Art Degree from Blake University, London, she furthered her studies for years in sculpture, jewelry making, decoupage, mosaics…the list is endless! Marie is now teaching Decoupage which involves mixed media such as painting on glass, wood, print transfers onto objects and canvas and relief art out of clay.
