  • (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2011 - Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey - Steve Elias MD FACS FACPh, is the first in the United States to use the new minimally invasive technology, EVRF. This device treats patients with small spider veins and small varicose veins. Radiofrequency energy, similar to microwave, is transmitted into the abnormal veins with a microprobe through the skin. The energy helps to seal the abnormal veins which eventually dissolve and get absorbed. The procedure is done in office and takes about 15 minutes. Patients can resume all activities after treatment including exercise.

    The advantages of the EVRF®:
    • Treatment can take place all year round
    • Treatment on all skin types
    • No side effects
    • Patient do not need to wear stockings after treatment
    • No Activity restrictions including exercise

"This technology allows us to treat small veins and adds another tool to our existing techniques when treating these types of veins." Dr. Elias explains, "As with all of our options, EVRF® is complementary to others such as sclerotherapy and laser treatments." With EVRF® and other treatments most patients see an improvement, not all veins disappear but the cosmetic results are significant. Our goal is to offer patients the newest and most effective minimally invasive procedures."

Treatments are offered at Columbia-Presbyterian and Englewood Hospital. For consultation or treatment, please call 212 342 4749 or 201 894 3252
