Dr Somdutt Prasad Appointed as Co-Convener of the Community Ophthalmology Update 2015 Event
Dr Somdutt Prasad will conduct an audio-video quiz session in the two-day event at Dr. B. C. Roy Institute of Eastern Railway.
- (1888PressRelease) June 28, 2015 - Noted ophthalmologist and retinal specialist Dr Somdutt Prasad has been appointed as co-convener of the Community Ophthalmology Update 2015 event jointly organized by ACOIN (Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India) and IROPA (Indian Railway Ophthalmic Physician Association).
The decision of appointing Dr Prasad as the co-convenerwas taken in a recently held meeting of the managing committee of ACOIN in Puri. The committee took into consideration Dr Prasad's exceptional knowledge of the managerial aspect of an educational meet for his appointment.
The theme of the event to be held at Dr. B. C. Roy Institute of Eastern Railway, Kaiser Street, Kolkata, on 1st and 2ndAugust 2015, is "Advanced Community Eye health practice with state of the art services."
Dr Prasad will also conduct an audio-visual quiz on the first day of the event (1st August) from 2:15 to 3:30pm. The event will witness top ophthalmologists from all over the country sharing their inputs on eye health practices.
About Dr Somdutt Prasad
Dr Somdutt Prasad - MS, FRCSEd, FRCOphth, FACS and MFMLM - is currently a consultant ophthalmologist and retinal specialist at B.B. Eye Foundation, AMRI and i4vision. Before settling in Kolkata, India, Dr Prasad served as a consultant ophthalmologist in several hospitals in the UK where he was performing nearly 300 vitrectomy surgeries a year and treating about 1000 patients suffering from various retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, venous occlusions and others.
Dr Prasad has always been an innovator and early adopter of the latest surgical techniques. He is active in the leading national and international ophthalmology societies and a regular faculty at the UK, European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and 8 book chapters.
