- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) June 21, 2013 - Lynn Hunter, Ed.D., President, Author, and Collaborative Technology Specialist for Educational Media Enterprises and founder of "The Dooples" held a presentation at two East Harlem elementary schools yesterday to introduce students to her new film, "The Dooples in the Land of Doo," a 22-minute musical animation featuring a continuation to The Dooples trilogy and an introduction to new Dooples characters.
Students were excited to watch Dr. Hunter as she premiered the film and they watched The Dooples come to life in the Land of Doo. The Dooples are writing implementations who come to life in a series of stories that these children embraced before they knew how to read. Characters introduced in the musical animation include, among others, a "marker" named Marcus, a "pen" named Penny, a crayon named Spectrina, and the wisest Doople in the Land of Doo, Mr. Doo Ba Dee Doo, who all learn by "Doo-ing."
Dr. Hunter had been invited to present to first and second graders at P.S. 112 Manhattan Jose Celso Barbosa School and third and fourth graders at P.S. 206 Jose Celso Barbosa School. This presentation was especially noteworthy as the animation serves as a link between The Dooples characters that these students already know and love with brand new characters who offer a new story to tell. With "The Dooples," Dr. Hunter seeks to entertain while incorporating integral life lessons. The film had previously been viewed at the Big Apple Film Festival and this was the first time it was presented to an audience of children.
"These students grew up with "The Dooples" and were so excited to see the continuation of the tale with new characters," said Dr. Hunter. "I'm thrilled to have found a way to get kids back to basics and show them that reading can be as entertaining as television or YouTube." "I'm passionate about and committed to my vision of "The Dooples" helping kids learn in an innovative way," she said.
