Dr. Laurence Stone to Join Rotaplast Team Trip to Repair Cleft Palates in Guatemala
Cosmetic and general dentist, Laurence Stone, D.D.S., M.A.G.D., will be traveling to Guatemala, along with other health care professionals, as part of a humanitarian effort to assist children born with cleft palates.
- Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) March 16, 2011 - Laurence Stone, D.D.S., M.A.G.D., with a Doylestown-based practice in Cosmetic and General Dentistry, will participate in a humanitarian trip to Retalhuleu, Guatemala to aid in performing corrective surgery on children suffering from cleft palates, March 13 - 25, 2011.
Dr. Stone will make the trip as part of Rotaplast International, a Rotary-affiliated charitable group located in San Francisco.
Dr. Stone will be one of approximately 30 health care professionals making the trip to Guatemala. Other professions include plastic surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, anesthesists and support personnel.
As part of this team, Dr. Stone will perform dental examinations, extractions of infected or decayed teeth and will assist with surgical procedures and the fabrication of feeding plates.
Approximately 12 - 15 Rotaplast humanitarian missions take place each year, at a cost of $80,000 to $100,000. Typically over 100 procedures are performed on each trip.
