- (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2011 - Commemorating the successful implementation of techniques of Electrophysiology and 3D mapping for over 6 years, Dr. K. M. Cherian's Frontier Lifeline Hospital, Chennai, organized the first edition of Electrophysiology Fellows Meet. This meet is exclusively designed for both aspiring and experienced Cardiologists with an inclination towards Electrophsiology, a lesser known division of cardiology.
The meet was held at the Hotel "The Green Park, Vadapalani, Chennai". The Electrophysiology Meet was inaugurated by Prof Thanikachalam, Vice Chancellor, Sri Ramachandra Medical College.
Eminent electrophysiologists like Dr. Roy John (Bringham and Women's Hospital of Harvard Medical School), Dr. C. Narasimhan (Care Hospital, Hyderabad), Dr Rajinish Juneja (AIIMS, New Delhi) were the course directors for the two day meet. They dealt on Basics of Electrophysiology and also presented an overview of high end ablation procedures. Several other distinguished faculty as well as young aspiring cardiologists from all over the country took part in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. M. Cherian, chairman and CEO, Frontier Lifeline hospital said, "It's our greatest pleasure to have initiated such a platform for young cardiologists to learn the essentials of this niche branch of cardiology"
Dr. P. R. Bhima Shankar, Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist, Frontier Lifeline hospital, also added "We are one of the few hospitals in the country who have been early adopters of intricate techniques of Electrophysiology and 3D mapping. We have successfully implemented these techniques for over 6 years and now this kind of a meet is an added feature which enthuses young cardiologists to take up this field"
Some of the important topics that were discussed and debated in the symposium were the basic EP study, management of tachycardia, approach to ablation and lab diagnosis approach to ablation in AVNRT (AV nodal reentrant tachycardia), Scar VT, Idiopathic VT& BBRVT (Bundle branch re-entry), Biophysics of RFA (Radio frequency ablation) and many more.
