Dr. John Lyman Installed as Ohio ACEP's Next President
Premier Physician Services' Emergency Medicine physician, Dr. John Lyman, was installed as Ohio ACEP's President on June 4. His term will continue a focus on member value.
- (1888PressRelease) June 18, 2013 - Dayton, OH - Dr. John Lyman was officially named President of the Ohio chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) at the annual member meeting held in Columbus on June 4.
Dr. Lyman is Regional Medical Director and Director, Emergency Medicine Residency Relations for Premier Physician Services. He has been an active member of ACEP's board for several years and has actively assisted with the leadership development program for the chapter.
"This is my first time as ACEP President. I was asked by other board members to 'throw my hat in' and did so with pleasure," said Dr. Lyman. "For me, this presidency is more of a culmination of my career versus a step on the way up." Dr. Lyman added, "It's a wonderful opportunity to give back both to the Emergency Medicine community and to ACEP, an organization that has served me so well over the past 30+ years."
Ohio ACEP advocates for the specialty of Emergency Medicine. Their efforts are to protect Emergency Medicine physicians and their patients. OH ACEP Executive Director, Laura Tiberi, said, "John Lyman has been an engaged leader and we look forward to working with him in his role as president to achieve the chapter's priority goals."
Dr. Lyman's efforts will focus on maintaining Ohio's preeminence in the educational arena, continue to encourage advocacy at the local, state, and national levels, and to nurture the chapter's leadership development division. Additionally, he hopes that his signature accomplishment will be to see the chapter more involved with residency programs in Ohio.
Dr. Gary Katz, Director of Service Excellence for Premier and Ohio ACEP Councillor, stated "I am happy to see John 'take the reins'. John brings decade's worth of experience in organized medicine and will represent our specialty in the house of medicine with distinction."
