"We all have the power to help save lives and be amazing. Please join us in this fight," Dr. Jodi L. Rice, D.C. said. "Blood cancer can affect anyone at anytime. My dear friend and mother of two lost her own mother to leukemia last year. This event is to honor her and help raise awareness."
The event is in honor of Sandra L. McIntosh, and all others battling leukemia or lymphoma disease. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit Be The Match Foundation. Another option for event attendees is to take part in oral DNA swabs, as a contribution. Entertainment for the event will include lead female vocalist, Ashley Dudukovich from the up and coming band, Chasing Jonah. Also available at the event will be free face painting for the kids.
Be The Match was recently featured on Good Morning America on August 23, 2012 as a young man from Yale gave the gift of life to an anonymous patient through his donation. For the past 25 years, Be The Match Foundation has raised funds to help patients who need a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant, find a donor and receive treatment. Every year, 10,000 patients with leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell and other life-threatening diseases need a marrow transplant from an unrelated donor, but only half receive one.
