Dr. David Snodgrass DDS Partners with Remote Area Medical Volunteer Team in Nashville
On the weekend of February 19-20, 2011, Dr. David Snogdrass DDS, along with a number of other dental professionals and volunteers, served the greater Nashville area by providing medical services to those in need. In cooperation with Remote Area Medical, Dr.
- Cleveland, TN (1888PressRelease) March 25, 2011 - "I was amazed at the amount of work that our team was able to accomplish in just one weekend," reported Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. Dr. David Snodgrass DDS was referencing the work done in cooperation with Remote Area Medical (RAM). Dr. David Snodgrass DDS, co-founder of Snodgrass-King Pediatric Dental Associate, along with four dental assistants and two volunteers combined efforts with other dentists and their staff, including Dr. Urbanek DDS, to offer dental work to those in Nashville without ability to afford such medical procedures.
"Stan Brock, founder of RAM, updated me on the numbers of patients we served that day," stated Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. According to Brock, 843 patients received dental assistance from Dr. Urbanek DDS, Dr. David Snodgrass DDS and the other dentists, dental assistants and volunteers. "In total we extracted 1,335 teeth," reported Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. The team also filled 371 cavities, added Snodgrass-King founder Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. "Stan shared with me that this was the 632nd expedition that RAM has hosted in its 26 year existence," stated Dr. David Snodgrass DDS.
Remote Area Medical was established in 1985 to offer medical relief to patients in some of the worst conditions imaginable, explained Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. "Stan, the founder of RAM, spent 15 years in the Amazon forest witnessing the devastation and pain that is derived from lack of medical services," added the Franklin, Tennessee-based dentist. As well, RAM has offered free medical services in the United States to poor rural regions. "I read that 60% of the expeditions led by Stan and RAM have been here in the United States," reported Dr. David Snodgrass DDS.
Remote Area Medical was recently the focus of an NBC one-hour news special. "They parachuted into Haiti, into Medorm, and built a rough runway," stated Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. "This is the work they do, hundreds of volunteers will converge on a particular area and at their own expense, change lives," added Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. According to the Snodgrass-King co-founder it is "truly something amazing to witness."
This is not the first time Dr. David Snodgrass DDS has been part of a team to provide medical relief for the less fortunate. RAM founder Steve Brock and Dr. David Snodgrass DDS share something else in common - their work in the country of Haiti. "Being part of the trips that we've done to Haiti, working with the underprivileged in that devastated community is not just rewarding, it's necessary," said Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. "I believe we all have a personal commitment to helping those who need help, giving from our talents and finances," added Dr. David Snodgrass DDS.
In addition to the work provided by Dr. David Snodgrass DDS and Dr. Urbanek and their teams, several hundred individuals received medical care. "Stan Brock shared with me that on the particular day we were working with RAM, 403 individuals received new prescription glasses," commented Dr. David Snodgrass DDS. As well, an additional 505 people received help for differing medical aliments. "All-in-all, there were 1,303 patients that received needed medical attention in some form or another on that February weekend," reported Dr. David Snodgrass DDS.
