Dr. Bernee Dunson DDS PC, Atlanta Dental Implant Specialist, Releases a New Sinus Augmentation Implant Case Study
A new case study of solution for root atrophy: sinus augmentation implant.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) July 02, 2010 - When teeth are lost, the bone originally supporting the roots atrophies (resorbs). In the posterior maxilla, the principle cause of this atrophy is caused by the maxillary sinus cavities pneumatizing (enlarging) yielding inadequate bone for implant placement. During the 1970's Dental Implant Pioneer, Dr. O. Hilt Tatum Jr., developed the Sinus Augmentation Graft procedure which, via a surgical approach allows for bone to be placed into the sinus under the sneiderian lining for subsequent successful implant placement. Bone from another part of the body, a donor, or artificial bone is grafted to accomplish this goal.
Following a sinus augmentation graft procedure in the right maxillary sinus, this "update" features, eight (8) implants that were placed in the maxillary arch, three (3) implants in the upper right, four (4) implants in the upper left, and one (1) implant at the site of the right central incisor via bone expansion. Following a period of healing (integration), the case was restored with fourteen (14) restorations: ten (10) PFM's and four (4) all porcelain restorations.
