Dr. Ben Chavis honored at the 1st Annual Diversity & Inclusion Awards (also known as The DANDI Awards)
Dr. Ben Chavis, a co-founder of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), is being honored for the Social Justice Award at this year's annual Diversity and Inclusion Awards.
- (1888PressRelease) July 20, 2012 - The awards are scheduled to be handed out July 31st at a ceremony in New York City at the New York Times Building, along with nominees recognized for their diversity initiatives in the following categories; Arts/Culture, Consumer Goods, Education, Entertainment, Entrepreneur, Environment/Sustainability, Fashion, Financial Services, Healthcare, International, Media, Non-Profit Sector, Social Responsibility, Sports, STEM (science, technology, engineering & math), and Workplace Diversity.
This year's ceremony is being hosted by Tai Beauchamp, a lifestyle expert and social entrepreneur. Beauchamp has appeared as a style expert on ABC, BET, CNN, NBC Today, TV One, and Soapnet and frequently contributes to the Wendy Williams Show, blackenterprise.com, the STYLE Network, Inside Edition, E! and other networks.
Chavis foundation, the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) is dedicated to harnessing the cultural relevance of Hip-Hop music to serve as a catalyst for education advocacy and other societal concerns fundamental to the empowerment of youth. HSAN is a non-profit, non-partisan national coalition of Hip-Hop artists, entertainment industry leaders, education advocates, civil rights proponents, and youth leaders united in the belief that Hip-Hop is an enormously influential agent for social change which must be responsibly and proactively utilized to fight the war on poverty and injustice.
The annual awards ceremony is founded and executive produced by Cheryl Gentry and Sherry Snipes. The DANDI Awards was founded in 2012 to recognize exemplary commitment and focus on diversity and inclusion. The mission of the DANDI'S is to celebrate the contributions of any individual, group or organization that is truly making a difference toward creating a more diverse and inclusive world!
