Doreen Downs Miller, M.B.A. '86, to Receive Honorary Doctorate from Adelphi University
Doreen Downs Miller, M.B.A. '86, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters at Adelphi University's 117th Commencement Ceremony.
- Nassau-Suffolk, NY (1888PressRelease) April 30, 2013 - Adelphi University is proud to announce that Doreen Downs Miller, M.B.A. '86, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters at Adelphi University's 117th Commencement Ceremony. The event will take place on May 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale, NY.
Doreen Downs Miller earned her M.B.A. at Adelphi in 1986. She is a parent educator specializing in early childhood development, temperament and the influence of attachment relationships on developmental outcomes. She is presently affiliated with the Adelphi University Institute for Parenting as a parent educator and Instructor of a post-masters certificate program in parent education and parent guidance. Ms. Miller is also a founding member of the Institute for Parenting and serves on the Advisory Board. She is formerly affiliated with the NYU Child Study Center Parenting Institute, the California Parenting Institute in Santa Rosa, CA, and was an instructor at NYU Steinhardt School of Education. Additionally, she consults with organizations dedicated to strengthening families and improving the quality of care and education for young children. She has served on various related Boards.
Ms. Miller holds an M.B.A. from Adelphi University and an M.A. in the Psychology of Parenthood from NYU. A passionate supporter of Adelphi, Ms. Miller has generously contributed to the Alice Brown Early Learning Center, and to various other University projects and programs.
