- (1888PressRelease) June 12, 2012 - LOS ANGELES, CA - Linda's Voice, a non-profit focused on ending domestic abuse, announced today the appointment of Russel Blake to its Board of Directors. Blake is a world-renown jazz bassist who in addition to creating beautiful pieces of music, is committed to service and raising awareness of the plight of abused women through work with the National Domestic Violence Registry. By joining the Board for Linda's Voice, Russel deepens his focus on fighting domestic abuse.
"In order to empower others, you must educate them; in order to educate, you must enlighten; in order to enlighten, one must be inspired to have courage over fear. Linda's Voice is an organization that demonstrates this paradigm to it's fullest potential," said Blake.
Linda's Voice is focused on engaging, educating and empowering women to work together to end domestic abuse. Founded by three sisters, Kelley and Amanda Whitis and Summer Harlow, Linda's Voice was created in honor of their mother who was murdered by their step-father. The sisters have taken their passion for digital storytelling and channeled it into a multi-media platform where they share the stories of women who have gone through and survived the dangerous cycle of domestic abuse. At lindasvoice.org, domestic abuse victims can come together to join a community, find vital resources and watch stories of women who have made it through the chaos. The addition of Blake to the Board will add visibility, insight and support to the organizational goals.
"We are thrilled to have Russel Blake join our organization to work hand-in-hand with us to end domestic abuse worldwide," said Amanda Whitis, Director of Development, Linda's Voice. "To have someone who is so dedicated, thoughtful, passionate and supportive of women and especially women who have gone through the painful existence of domestic abuse be part of our Board is a dream come true for my sisters and I. We could not be more proud of adding Russel to our Board and look forward to a strong future with him on our team."
