Do Your Part at Blo 24-Hour Cut-A-Thon to Benefit SAFEchild
Hair stylists at Blo will "SNIP, SNIP, GIVE" during their annual 24-hour Cut-a-Thon this Sunday to raise money and help prevent child abuse.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2012 - Hair stylists at Blo will work in shifts over 24 hours this Sunday to raise money and help prevent child abuse during the fifth annual "SNIP, SNIP, GIVE 24-Hour Cut-A-Thon" on Jan. 29 and 30. For a donation of $40, the award-winning Blo design team will provide haircuts from Sunday at 8 a.m. through Monday at 8 a.m. One hundred percent of money raised from haircuts, retail and raffle sales will go to SAFEchild, a local non-profit dedicated to eliminating child abuse.
The Blo staff selected SAFEchild as this year's 24-Hour Cut-A-Thon beneficiary, because it provides child abuse prevention and direct support services to children and families.
According to SAFEchild, about one in three girls and one in seven boys are abused, and nearly 90 percent of victims know their abuser. Also, according to the United States Government Accountability Office, more than five children die every day as a result of child abuse.
"We were stunned to learn these facts and are inspired by SAFEchild's vision that 'every child has the right to mature in an environment free from physical abuse and emotional neglect,'" said Bryan Nunes, Blo owner. "We love the opportunity to combine our passion for hair with our passion for helping people. We're ready to do our part to help SAFEchild eliminate child abuse and foster a safe place for children in our community."
Appointments can be booked by calling: (919) 484-8600. Walk-ins are also welcome at any time, day or night.
The 24-Hour Cut-A-Thon continues to grow each year at Blo, which was recognized as the "Salon of the Year" nationally in 2011 by Salon Today magazine. Participants come from as far away as Virginia for the high-energy event.
Blo will raffle prizes all day; with the grand prize winner receiving free haircuts for a year. Guests will also receive discounts on all Redken and Pureology hair care products, styling tools and accessories.
