DMRC chose to partner with IndiaSkills to improve the skill sets of their employees and upgrade the Metro's safety norms to internationally accepted standards. The training program was aimed at imparting awareness, training and practical exposure to international standards of safety measures followed in metro construction sites to the DMRC workers. IndiaSkills designed the course to meet the specific skilling needs of DMRC employees and developed it on the vast knowledge & expertise of City & Guilds in the Construction Health & Safety sector.
The program equips learners in metro transport maintenance with the knowledge and practical skills in implementing & maintaining safety standards and regulations for the workplace. The qualification also comprehensively covers essential subjects such as use of protective equipment, administering first aid, safe work procedures, fire safety measures as well as health & safety, legislation and risk assessment.
Milind Deora Youth Employability Initiative
The Milind Deora Youth Employability Initiative, is a first of its kind partnership in which Sri Milind Deora, MP for South Mumbai constituency, IndiaSkills - a joint venture in vocational training between Manipal Education, India's leading education & training service provider with universities, colleges and 700 plus learning centres and City & Guilds, world's leading vocational training body with presence in 81 countries for over 130 years, came together to provide employment opportunities for the youth in a sustainable manner.
IndiaSkills offered industry relevant courses and training methodology that helped a learner get all required skills irrespective of his educational background. Speakwell, one of Mumbai‟s leading Spoken English chains, ensured quality training infrastructure and faculty. Irize, a dedicated employment wing of Manipal Education ensured that the successful learners had multiple job options across locations. The critical part of this value chain which was sourcing of candidates was ensured by the efforts of Congress party workers. Their deep understanding of each of the localities in South Mumbai, their enthusiasm and intent in helping this social change happen and their strong presence at the grassroots level, all together ensured that the most deserving youth and their families were reached out to, counseled and sent to the IndiaSkills centres for training.
