  • (1888PressRelease) March 23, 2011 - DICKEY-john Corporation, based in Auburn, IL, a leading manufacturer of precision agriculture and moisture testing products, announced today that they will be featured on an upcoming episode of American Farmer.

The episode will highlight the importance of precision agriculture in modern farming. With advances in sensor and data technology, more farmers are turning to precision ag to maximize profits while reducing waste. Precision ag technology enables precision application control, including seeding, spraying, anhydrous, fertilizing, steering, and section control. Additionally, moisture analysis technology allows farmers to test grain and make informed decisions when a field is ready for harvest. Broadcast is scheduled for Fall, 2011, on a combination of national cable and satellite networks. Dates and show times will be announced at a later date.

"Technology will continue to play a big part in farming", said Pat Fuchs, DICKEY-john product manager. "As machinery, seed, fuel, and fertilizer costs continue to rise, it is crucial for farmers to run their operations as efficiently as possible. Precision ag technology helps to maximize payback, despite the battle of increasing input costs. DICKEY-john provides a variety of precision farming solutions, from planting to harvest, that provide more accurate control over tractors and implements, thereby increasing yields, reducing input costs, and maximizing profitability."

While DICKEY-john specializes in sensors, monitors, and control systems for farming tractors and implements, their scope reaches beyond the agriculture industry to also include the public works industry. Key products include control systems for seed and fertilizer application to aide in crop production; planter monitors for seed rate monitoring; grain moisture testers and constituent analyzers used by commercial elevators and individual producers; ground speed sensors for ground speed measurement; and control systems used for maintenance of roadways. DICKEY-john engineers have also played a key role in the development of the ISO11783 that standardizes electronics for agriculture machinery so that tractors and implements "plug and play" together, regardless of the manufacturer.

"We are proud to be partnering with DICKEY-john in this upcoming segment on precision agriculture and moisture testing," said Adrien Aniceto, producer for the series. "Advancements in science and technology are having a profound impact on the agricultural industry and we are looking forward to sharing this with our viewers," she added.
