Diablo Magazine's "Best of the East Bay 2011" Winners Announced
144 Winners Selected in 141 Categories in Diablo magazine's Best of the East Bay Poll.
- Oakland, CA (1888PressRelease) June 18, 2011 - Diablo magazine's annual "Best of the East Bay" winners have been selected and will be announced in the July 2011 issue.
In this year's Best of the East Bay poll, Diablo editors asked readers to "vote for your favorite, can't-live-without-'em Best of the East Bay foods, shops, services, kid-friendly places, fun spots, and style finds." More than 11,000 write-in votes were received online, and a grand total of 144 winners were selected in 141 categories, including several bonus expert editor picks, in the July Best of the East Bay mega-issue. July also features interviews with some of the best East Bay stars and standouts like Nate Schierholtz, Guy Fieri, Kristi Yamaguchi, Green Day's Mike Dirnt and American Idol finalist Thia Magia. Early announcement of the winners list was made on the Diablo RADAR iPhone/iPad App on June 17 in advance of the July issue newsstand date.
The prestigious awards are displayed front and center at so many "Best" businesses of the East Bay; many repeat-winners have quite a collection and offer special promotions to customers to celebrate their wins.
"Being recognized as a Diablo magazine Best of the East Bay winner is a great accomplishment and a feather in the cap of local businesses. This really sets a salon/spa above the others, as it is selected by the residents in the community," said Bonnie Waters, owner of Changes Salon and Day Spa, now a 31-time winner in the "BOEB" Salon, Spa, Health, and Beauty categories after her three new wins in 2011.
One lucky online voter, Tara Valladon, was randomly selected from the entries and won a fantastic Hawaii getaway, including four nights at the oceanfront Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas and round-trip airfare for two courtesy of Alaska Airlines.
