(1888PressRelease) November 23, 2010 - Walnut Creek, CA - Diablo magazine has selected six recipients of the annual Threads of Hope Awards. Melanie Buerke of Danville's SonRise Equestrian Foundation, Bill Cain of Rebuilding Together East Bay North, Cindy Everson of Pleasanton's P.A.R. For Kids' Sake, Susan Grey Mason of Walnut Creek's Blankies for Grown-Ups, and John Coward and Dave Henderson of Concord and Martinez' 5 Dollar A Month Club will be honored at a private reception on December 1 at the Blackhawk Museum.
For the past 16 years, Diablo has invited readers to nominate exceptional volunteers working for charitable causes in the East Bay for the annual Threads of Hope Awards. After considering each nominee's length of service, hands-on involvement, and impact on the community, a panel of judges representing East Bay businesses and philanthropic organizations chose these six winners. The 2010 judges are Stephen Lesher, vice president, Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation; Jessica Aguirre, weeknight co-anchor NBC Bay Area's nightly news, Mark Flower, senior vice president and regional director of Wells Fargo Private Bank, Karla McCormick, program director of Volunteer Center of the East Bay, Giles Miller, director of development for East Bay Community Foundation, and Carole Wynstra, board president of Diablo Theatre Company.
The Threads of Hope Awards honor individuals who help strengthen the fabric of the community. The awardees will be recognized at Diablo magazine's 2010 Threads of Hope Awards ceremony on December 1 and featured in the December issue of Diablo magazine.
