Diabetes Awareness Event 11/16 at Diabetic Footwear and Orthopedic Shoe Store, Foot Solutions of Estero
Foot Solutions of Estero, a diabetic footwear and orthopedic shoe store, will be hosting a Diabetes Awareness event on Tuesday, 11/16 from 12pm-2pm. Dr. Kleinman, DPM will be available to answer questions and attendees will receive diabetic foot analysis. Refreshments will be served, including gluten and sugar free items. Event is free and open to the public.
- Fort Myers-Cape Coral, FL (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2010 - In honor of November as National Diabetes Awareness month, Foot Solutions of Estero will be hosting a Diabetes Awareness event on Tuesday, November 16th from 12pm-2pm. Podiatrist, Dr. Jeffrey Kleiman, DPM, will be on hand to answer questions about diabetes related foot problems, as well as other foot related concerns. Foot Solutions will also be providing free digital foot scans, pressure map readings and balance and gait analysis.
"The statistics for diabetic complications are really staggering," said Dr. Kleiman. "The rate of amputations for diabetics is approximately 10 times higher than those without diabetes. Also, about 60-70% of people with diabetes suffer mild to severe forms of nerve damage. We are hoping that through this event, and continued education about proper foot care, we can help lower these statistics."
"Inspecting the feet daily for injuries as well as having your footwear fitted by a footcare specialist is vital for people with diabetes," said Christopher Cole, Licensed Pedorthist and owner of Foot Solutions of Estero.
The Diabetes Awareness event at Foot Solutions is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served, including gluten and sugar free items. If people are unable to attend this event, they may still come into Foot Solutions anytime for diabetic foot care information and free digital foot scans, pressure readings, and balance and gait analysis.
"We also want to make sure people are aware that if they suffer from diabetes and are on Medicare Part B, their shoes, inserts, and other diabetic footwear are often completely covered by insurance," said Christopher Cole, owner of Foot Solutions Estero. "The Medicare shoe benefits are annual, and will end in December for 2010, so we will have information about this available at the event as well."
